The Sasquatch Gang

I have been having a blast hanging out with Amanda and Ethan. We always do the most random things, like go stealthing, make movies, take Dale out on adventures, and our newest expedition: making cardboard superhero suits. The Institute was having a superhero themed dance and we came up with the brilliant idea to make our own superhero suits out of cardboard. Let me tell you, we had the best costumes of everyone there. We decided to call our super league the Sasquatch Gang, named after the great film of the same title.

My super identity was The Hippo, Amanda's was The Ostrich, and Ethan was. . . well we don't really know what Ethan was.

In the end, we combined all our efforts to create the ultimate suit. We used my skirt, Ethan's chest armor and Amanda's helmet.

Beginning of a New Semester

Wow, it's been over a month since I last posted on here, so this post is going to have to cover a lot of ground.

First off I would just like to say that I am loving this semester so far. I absolutely love all of my classes. I would have to say that my favorite class, though, is silkscreen and relief. Right now we are working on relief carving. We are carving pictures out of linoleum sheets which will then be used as giant stamps to be printed on paper. Here is what I am working on at the moment:

Yes there is a giant white line going through it now, but that wont matter for printing.

My other art class I am taking right now is painting. So far we aren't doing anything to exciting. We are working on a color mixing study where we made an image out of magazine clippings and are now trying to replicate the colors exactly and painting it on a canvas. Here is what I have so far:

As I promised a long time ago, I will now put up pictures of Mary Ann Kimchi (my marionette I made in  3D design last semester)

I didn't think you could get the full effect just from some still photos, so I did a little demonstration as well.

Yeah I know she is kind of creepy, but you've got to admit she is pretty cool too.

Also, I finally finished that dolphin picture I started forever ago. For my art insights class I was required to bring a piece of work, and I had absolutely nothing I could bring except for that. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I figured I would put it up here anyways.

So that is my current artwork for now.

So far this semester has been awesome. My friend Ethan came home from his mission and has started hanging out with me and Amanda all the time. We decided we would start our own to show. We decided to call it Suu. (Pronounced like Sue) After many hours of hard work, we finally finished the first episode

(I couldn't get it to work on here, so if you want to see it, which you should, go look at my videos on facebook)

Yeah I know, it's not quite up to a professional level, but we are getting there.

Me, Ethan, and Amanda also wanted to start a band. We will hopefully be working on that this weekend, but I can't make any promises.

Mein Bester Freund

Not really sure why I put the title in german, I don't even speak german. That just happened to be what i wanted to name this post, and it happened to be one of the few things I know how to say in german. (It means "My best friend" if you didn't know)

So anyways. . . I am a cat lover. . .
haha just kidding!

So anyways, so anyways, I just wanted to dedicate this blog post to my best friend in the world Amanda Dayton. This week has been a really hard week, with finals on the way and a bunch of other stuff going on. It has made me really thankful to have Amanda as my friend. She watched Glee and The Wonder Years with me when I was sad/ stressed, made a video for Gratten's birthday with me, and stayed up late with me watching pointless youtube video's even though we both had early morning classes. She is probably the one person who knows how to cheer me up when I'm sad, and she is the one person I can go to for anything. I truly believe that she would do anything for me, as I would do anything for her.

For those of you who didn't see this video on facebook (and for those who did, it is so awesome that you should watch it again) here it is:

Yes, this video was supposed to be very awkward.
This is what we made G-rat for his B-day.

And this is the best video we found on youtube at about 2 in the morning.
It was funny then, and it's still funny now:

So bad that it's funny!

I just want to thank Amanda for being the most awesome roommate/ best friend ever!
I love you!

The Zombie Project: Stage 2

So I finished my zombie project a while ago, but I have just been way to lazy to update my blog. Here it is now, though. The finished product of my zombie project.

I kind of liked how in my first shoot, the photos were a lot darker. But everyone in my class said that they wanted to see more background, plus it the photos turned out a lot sharper with more light.

On a side note, my professor loved my old man picture so much that he had me e-mail him a copy to use in his lecture for next year. I was kind of proud of that. Oh, and my 3D design teacher loved my marionette (I will blog about that soon) so much that he took it home with him to take pictures of it in his studio.

Side side note, I found out while I was trying to send my picture to my photo teacher that I had lost all the pictures that had been on my camera. I had to delete them off my memory card when I used Gratten's camera to take photos but I thought I saved them all on my computer, guess not. I am just so thankful for this blog and facebook or else I would have completely lost all of them.

The Zombie Project: Stage 1

For my final in photography, i thought it would be fun to stage a zombie invasion. Last light I did some shots just to turn in as my progress check. We didn't have much time, so they weren't as good as I would have hoped. We went down into the "zombie tunnels" AKA the "sheep tunnels" where it was super dark. We didn't have many lights or a tripod, so a lot of them turned out pretty blurry. However, when I go out again to get more shots, Gratten is going to set me up with some better equipment and help me out, so hopefully it will turn out better.

Here is what I have for now:

Not as good as they could/ will be, but for a start, they are pretty freakin' awesome!

The Title for This Could Not Be Reveled at The Moment

So lately I've been spending a lot of time by myself. Amanda, I don't blame you at all so don't think that I do. I understand that you've been busy with the show. But I'm glad its over and we can spend more time together again :) But everybody else just seems to have better things to do these days. So I decided I would find ways to entertain myself. I read two AMAZING books that Amanda recommended: Looking for Alaska, and Paper Towns. Both written by John Green. I think I liked Paper Towns a bit better just because it wasn't nearly as sad, but not by much because they were both fantastic. I finally understand a lot of Amanda's quotes, and why her name on her blog is Margo Roth Speigelman.

I actually started doing some drawing instead of just wasting all my time playing Zelda. I was just sketching a dolphin one day and it turned out to be pretty awesome, so I decided to do a full on picture of it. It isn't finished but here is the progress so far.

On Friday I was sitting alone in the apartment just reading when Kadi came home. I actually spent the rest of the night hanging out with Kadi, Julie, Danielle, and Kacey. (Some of the other residence on my hall) It actually turned out to be a blast. It snowed a good inch and we went out and had a snowball fight. After we got cold, some girls in Eccles A, invited us over for hot chocolate. Later that night we started watching some animated series of Zelda that was made in the 80's. We started watching it just as a joke, but I think we are kind of actually getting hooked on it. We are up to episode 4.

Saturday,  I ended up hanging out with all of them again. We watched the Uninvited, which is one of my favorite movies, scary or not scary I have decided. We also watched Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I saw this movie in theaters when it first came out, but I had completely forgotten how pointless of a movie it was. The only part I liked was the very first part where the dolphins just randomly float up into space. Also, I had never noticed this before, but Danielle pointed out that the first person listed in the credits was "The voice of the whale." And for those of you who haven't seen the movie, the whale plays and very insignificant role and is only on screen for all of 30 seconds. So we thought that was pretty funny.

Today in church, I actually got up and bore my testimony! Which is the first time in like. . . forever. Stupid Kacey told me and Amanda to go up, and then he would. Of course me and Amanda said no way, but Kacey got up anyways. Then, while there was a long awkward silence, Amanda went up, so I knew it was my turn. And then, as if this day wasn't strange enough already, I VOLUNTEERED to play the piano in Relief Society! I don't know what has gotten into me, stupid good influences.

R.I.P. Juniper, you will be missed

Yes, it is true today was Juniper's final day. Even though I am not living there anymore, I am still super sad to see it go. Apparently the heater broke and there was no way they could fix it, and since the building is so old they cannot replace it. Juniper Hall to me was more than just a dorm building, it was the location where I spent the greatest year of my life.

I have so many great memories of that place. I met so many wonderful people. We stayed up late every night, played sardines, walked to maverick wrapped in comforters, made lip syncing videos, made stop motion videos, played truth or truth, peed our pants (not me but others), spit chocolate milk all over the walls (Ruby), built forts, had sleepovers on school nights, measure our heights against the wall, found Zac Efron in the bathroom stall, broke the celling lamp, wreaked havoc and did many other immature things that most college students would be way to embarrassed to ever do.

And so today, as everyone was moving out me and Amanda snuck into the building and took some things to remember juniper by.

We stole our old room number signs.

Among the immature things we did, we stole all the fake trees in Juniper for one night and stored them all in my room.

And afterward put them in front of an RA's room.

So we also had to take a tree, just for the memories.

And a bush for good measure.

I will never forget Juniper and all the good times I had there. I wish everything could have stayed exactly like it was back then, but alas, things change and nothing ever stays the same.
